Rock Chorus
is a choir with a difference. It was started by Dunstable based singer/songwriter Lauren Field in September 2009 and now has over 100 members across five choirs and is growing week by week.
Back in December the original three choirs performed a set of five songs for friends and family. Now, six months on, they have an ever-growing repertoire of classic and contemporary rock and pop songs and are being invited to perform at festivals and concerts throughout the UK and will soon be recording their first single.

The summer music festival season kicked off with Dunstable’s Party in the Park on May 8th.Saturday 12th June Rock Chorus will perform at the West Bletchley Carnival and on Saturday June 19th at the Waterside Festival, Great Linford to an audience of thousands. On Monday 12th July Rock Chorus will share the evening with the Herts Police choir at the Bushey Festival and are even promising some audience participation.
But it’s their charity work that Rock Chorus are finding the most rewarding. In April Rock Chorus appeared in front of the Luton Magistrates, but it was all in a good cause - raising money for Help for Heroes. In July Rock Chorus are performing at two big charity events – Macfest 2010 in aid of The Macintyre Special School at Wingrave, Bucks on Saturday July 17th and at the Pepper Rock Show in aid of the Pepper Foundation on Thursday July 22nd in Berkhamsted, Herts. The interestingly monikered Farmfest takes them into August and takes place on Sunday 8
th
in Totternhoe and on September 12
th
they will be performing at Woburn’s famous Oyster Festival.
Rock Chorus
presently runs weekly choir rehearsals in Dunstable, Milton Keynes, Bushey, Berkhamsted and Pinner, Middlesex. The terms run for ten weeks and membership is open to every one of all ages and all abilities. Any rehearsal can be used as a free taster session at any time during the term for anyone who is considering joining.
“Singing is one of the strongest glues for encouraging positive community development
- We want people to come because they love singing, enjoy the experience and want to make new friends, pure and simple as that - It’s a no-brainer, great fun and good for your health – there aren’t too many things you can say that about” Lauren Field
This summer Lauren is organising a series of workshops both for existing Rock Chorus members and also for newcomers. These will include vocal warm-ups, new song arrangements, rhythm, performance and harmonies in a fun and friendly environment.
