Pine Gardens and Shenley Park win People's Choice Award

Cllr Douglas Mills announced the winners of the People's Choice Awards at the council's 'Street Champions' meeting.
The winning projects, voted for by Hillingdon residents, were improvements to the children's play areas in Pine Gardens and Shenley Park. The award is part of Hillingdon Council's Feel PROUD campaign and the projects will share up to £50,000 of funding through the Chrysalis programme, which funds improvements to the borough.
The People's Choice Award gives residents the chance to vote for community projects that will help to enhance their local area. A shortlist was drawn up and 5 projects went forward to the public vote which ran from 20 August to 12 September both online and in libraries.  The council received a record number of votes (2264) from residents keen to secure funding for community projects in their area.
Cllr Douglas Mills, Cabinet Member for Improvement, Partnerships and Community Safety, said:
"The People's Choice Awards give our residents a voice and it's been great to see them using it. We've received a record number of votes this year which have helped us understand what our residents want to see in the borough.
As a result, the Chrysalis funding will support two very worthy community projects and will help enhance the children's play areas in two of our popular community parks."

Radio controlled cars at EHG

rccar

Message from Chairperson EHG
For several weeks there have been adults 'playing' with large petrol driven remote controlled cars at Eastcote House Gardens.
These 'toys' are noisy, and can be dangerous to passing children, dogs and adults.
They are cutting up the grass and are a nuisance.
If you are visiting EHG or live nearby and you see or hear these 'toys' please could you contact me whilst the 'boys' are in the Gardens, so that I can make contact with the Green Spaces team, and hopefully have them stopped. Mostly this happens on a Saturday afternoon.
The known groups of model car enthusiasts have been have been contacted by Green Spaces and they deny all knowledge, so we really need to catch them at the gardens.
If you see or hear them please call me on 020 8866 8436.
Many thanks
Lesley
