All parks and open spaces are plagued by these trouble makers.

The latest annoyance is now coming from two groups, A Stand in the Park which is allied to a group called Jam for Freedom. Basically these groups are anti establishment and are underpinned by such people as Piers Corbyn, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison. They consider it their right to hold Unauthorised Music Events [UMEs]in parks and open spaces.

The events are advertised through web sites so the organizers have no idea how many people are coming, they do not have permission from the Local Authority, therefore, there is no Public Liability Insurance to cover the event, no first aid cover, no stewards. There is no respect for other park users who visit parks for some peace and quiet, just loud amplified noise. Trouble waiting to happen.

We must all be on guard against graffiti louts, moped riders and these UMEs. If this is happening near you please inform both the Police and the Local Council. A reference number should be issued for each complaint. Work together through any Conservation Area Panel, Residents Association or Friends group if your park has one. Then a picture can be built up of the problem. It will not go away on its own.

We need to take control of our local areas not let anarchy gain the upper hand.
